Bundeswehr Feldmütze, M-43 style, 1962, Bundesheer

Today's posting is another West German hat that has been in my collection for quite a few years.  It is a Bundeswehr Field hat from the early days of the Bundesheer (West German Army). 


The hat is sewn out of grey, smooth uniform wool and is lined in cotton.  The grey uniform color was adopted for the Bundeswehr in 1957.  This hat is a size 61, which is quite a bit loose on me, so the fit in the pictures may look a bit sloppy!  The clear vinyl protector inside the hat has nearly lost all of the gold printing, but the date can still be made out as VII/62 ...... 1962.  The original owner's name tag is inserted under the vinyl:
